WIN Wealth Management Joins Buckingham Strategic Wealth

Buckingham Strategic Wealth, the St. Louis-based wealth management firm, has expanded its presence and depth of talent in the Denver region by acquiring Denver-based WIN Wealth Management, which will assume the Buckingham name.

WIN Wealth Management was co-founded in 2003 by Mike Winterscheidt, CPA/PFS, and, like Buckingham, provides investment management and comprehensive financial planning services to individuals, families and businesses. Winterscheidt, who has more than 40 years of experience in the accounting and financial services industries, and his team have been associated with Buckingham for 14 years due to their membership in The BAM ALLIANCE, a nationwide community of independent advisory firms that engage BAM Advisor Services, Buckingham’s sister company.

“Both our firms were founded on the belief that doing what’s best for our clients is paramount, so the decision to join Buckingham was a natural one,” Winterscheidt said. “This move allows our team to grow our business and deepen our client experience by aligning with a firm that shares our core values and comprehensive approach to wealth management.”

The transaction, which closed on July 1, 2017, also brings to the Buckingham team Ryan Mitchell and Leslie A. Leslie, along with $135 million in assets under management (as of March 31, 2017). With this transaction, WIN Wealth Management co-founder Mark Autterson will begin transitioning into retirement although he will continue to be available for clients during the transition to Buckingham until he retires fully.

Buckingham CEO Adam Birenbaum echoes Winterscheidt’s sentiment. “This team is an outstanding addition to Buckingham as a whole and to our Denver-area team specifically,” he said. “Aligning our efforts will allow us to better serve clients, helping them reach their most important financial and life goals through holistic financial planning. Both firms remain dedicated to wealth management that not only focuses on highly engaged and profoundly personal relationships, but truly connects clients’ money with their values.”

Winterscheidt and his team will continue to operate out of WIN Wealth Management’s current offices, eventually combining resources with Buckingham’s existing Denver location and their new colleagues.

The addition of WIN Wealth Management is Buckingham’s 27th transaction since the firm completed its first acquisition in Santa Rosa, California, in 2010. The firm now has a presence in 17 cities across the country.

“This transaction represents a huge win for everyone involved, and it continues our strategic effort to deliver ever-deeper, more comprehensive wealth management solutions to our current and future clients throughout the Denver region,” Birenbaum said. “Our team is now able to offer an even greater level of service to clients there and firm-wide while we continue to add to our exceptional talent base.”

Buckingham is a partner firm within Focus Financial Partners and home to BAM Advisor Services and The BAM ALLIANCE, a community of more than 140 independent, like-minded advisory firms throughout the country that collectively manage or administer $29 billion (as of March 31, 2017).
