Buckingham Stories: Kevin Grogan, Director of Investment Analysis
Kevin Grogan’s journey to Buckingham began with some career advice from a pioneer in the world of passive investing. When Kevin was an MBA student at Saint Louis University, Rex Sinquefield, SLU alumnus and co-founder of Dimensional Fund Advisors, gave a speech to the business school on the practical nature of passive investing. Up until then, this approach was just another theory in Kevin’s investment philosophy class.
Later that year, a Wall Street Journal article by Jonathan Clements caught Kevin’s attention. A quote from financial author Larry Swedroe prompted Kevin to email Larry about Buckingham. The rest, they say, is present day.
In 2010, Kevin co-authored a financial book with Larry and colleague Tiya Lim. Some might say Kevin’s story writes itself. Others would attribute his success to perseverance and a keen sense of focus. As Kevin sees it, by using academically based research to improve the structure of client portfolios, he puts the benefits of passive investing to work for his clients.
