Buckingham Stories: John Corn, Wealth Advisor
Almost daily, a fellow Buckingham advisor will stop by John Corn’s office with a question about a client’s IRA, perhaps about a Roth conversion or naming beneficiaries. Or John will receive an email from an advisor, seeking input on a client’s 401(k).
John’s proficiency sprung from when he and a colleague were talking about how the large number of baby boomers nearing retirement contrasted with the small number of advisors who could navigate clients from the many IRA traps. John said, “I’ll be that guy for Buckingham.” As a CPA, John already had in-depth knowledge of IRAs and their tax benefit. He also immersed himself in the subject, reading books, writing articles and giving presentations. Yes, John has become that guy for Buckingham — and that’s a win for our clients’ futures.
Making it happen has defined John’s career, whether he was earning his MBA while working by day or using his wide-ranging expertise to help his Buckingham clients — and the clients of his fellow advisors.
