Andrew Nelson Financial Services Joins Buckingham Strategic Wealth

Buckingham Strategic Wealth, the St. Louis-based wealth management firm, has expanded its regional presence and depth of talent by acquiring California-based Andrew Nelson Financial Services. Andrew Nelson, CPA, will join Buckingham’s existing Irvine office.

Like Buckingham, Nelson provides investment management and comprehensive financial planning services to individuals, families and businesses. Nelson started and ran his own business — first a CPA firm and then wealth management services — for more than 45 years. This holistic professional background has long guided his commitment as an advisor to think about all aspects of his clients’ financial lives.

“Joining Buckingham was a natural decision, and is fulfilling on both a personal and professional level,” Nelson said. “The whole Buckingham team is devoted to helping clients make smart, sound investment decisions, just like I have been since the beginning. This move allows me to dedicate my full time, attention and energy to working with clients, as well as ensures continuity for my clients well into the future.”

The transaction, which closed on April 1, 2017, brings more than $30 million in assets under management (as of Dec. 31, 2016).

Buckingham CEO Adam Birenbaum echoes Nelson’s sentiment. “We’re excited to welcome Andy to Buckingham,” he said. “He’s an excellent fit for our firm because we share a common belief in doing the right thing and acting in clients’ best interests at all times. We have the same core values and evidence-based investment philosophy.”

Adding Nelson to Buckingham’s Irvine office brings the total number of transactions completed by the firm to 26 since its first acquisition in Santa Rosa, California, in 2010. With the April 1 addition of a Lincoln office as well, Buckingham now operates from 15 offices located across the United States.

“This transaction is a great success for all of us, and it continues Buckingham’s strategic effort to deliver ever deeper, more comprehensive wealth management solutions to our current and future clients,” Birenbaum said. “The Irvine team is now able to offer an even greater level of service to clients as we continue to add to our exceptional talent base.”

Buckingham is a partner firm within Focus Financial Partners and home to BAM Advisor Services and The BAM ALLIANCE, a community of more than 140 independent, like-minded advisory firms throughout the country that collectively manage or administer more than $27.7 billion (as of Dec. 31, 2016).
